MY DAYS IN RETIREMENT

Let There Be Light

And God said, “Let there by light”. I’ve been kind of stuck in the office for most of the day. Nat and the electrician have been wandering about the house since 9:00 am this morning. BUT we now have proper lighting in our basement and can even turn on the lights before we head down the stairs. How cool is that??? Thought I would never be appreciative of such a minor thing!!

This kind man has also hung our new fixtures for the entranceway and the hallway, and if I do say so myself, how fabulous!!!! They look great. We’re more than pleased with the fixtures we selected and now I can’t wait to get the rest of the lights replaced.

So whilst all of this activity has been going on – I took a break for lunch (Nat, I’m afraid, has missed his) and then continued puttering away at the computer and getting caught up on some of my podcasts. I’m now officially bored and it’s just coming on 3:00 pm. But what the hell, it’s been worth it!!! I’ve also forgotten how tedious it can get sitting behind a desk most of the day. Being retired really does spoil a person.

Nat, poor lad, has missed his lunch and I’m guessing he’ll be ready for those steaks I’m planning for supper. Ymmm!!! I’m sure he’ll say it was okay, as knowing him, he just wanted to keep going as long as the electrician wanted to keep going. I guess the electrician has a big job coming up and we won’t be able to get a hold of him for sometime. So we’ll utilize him while we’ve got him!! I’m also guessing that Nat will be looking forward to a really good hockey game tonight. Hope the Maple Leafs don’t disappoint!!! Nat’s earned it today!! Go Leafs, GO!!!!!

Born and raised in a small town in Ontario, Canada, with 5 sisters and a brother. Now retired, my husband and I travel, play golf and am slowly renovating our new (old) home. After my kidney transplant in 1999, we've learned to enjoy life to the fullest. Nat and I have driven across Canada, taken an Alaskan cruise and drove home via the Northern United States. We've also been to Mexico, the Caribbean, the East Coast of Canada and Cape Breton. We've done the "Snowbird" thing, having lived in Destin, Florida for a couple of months of the year. In 2007 we changed our travel plans in order to move into and renovate our new "old" home, but hope to someday get back on the road again. We also love returning to Scotland (Nat's origin of birth) to visit his family and tour the Highlands and surrounding Isles.
