Had another great meal at the Fallsview Casino Grand Buffet on Monday. Must admit, however, that it’s not the most conducive place to have a “quiet” meal. You kind of feel like you’re in Las Vegas, a lot of hustle and bustle and people tripping the light fantastic back and forth to the food areas. Plus also felt like it was Seniors night – if you know what I mean. Not that we’re Spring chickens – but when almost everyone in the place is a wee bit hunched over – it kind of makes you feel like you should walk that way, too, just to fit in!!!! No complaints, as you never know what a place is like until you try it out!!
Tuesday – well what can I say – rain, rain, rain and even more rain. Was one of those days where Nat and I stayed put, kept our money in our wallets (what there was of it) and puttered about the place. Got some more packing done – at least what we think we won’t be using for awhile. Also had to recover a bit from several big meals in several days. I spent most of the day on the phone and on the internet trying to do address changes. Really forgot what it was like to be on the phone most of the day – now that’s a chore I don’t miss!!!! Really enjoyed the Bell Canada guy – had a right old chat!!!! Plus he had to do his spiel and try to talk us into switching from Star Choice to Bell Express Vu. He was quite convincing and even had all kinds of discounts and offers that “newbies” could take advantage of. Just wish they would give some of these deals to their “loyal” customers on a regular basis!!! Nat and I are talking it over and seeing how we can reduce our satellite bill – but naturally when I call Bell back I won’t be able to get that nice chap again!!!
Also had a nice chat with the guy from GM Pension Dept. Turns out he grew up in Ridgeway and told me how much we’ll enjoy it. Even though he hasn’t been there in awhile, he remembered quite a few places. He at least was one of those people who didn’t ask to spell the name!!! Sometimes I think some City folks never leave their back yards or little urban areas. More people should go for that good old Sunday drive!! God, Dad would be pleased I even said that!!
Received a great little email from Dalton this morning. Was really nice to hear he’s enjoying his job. There’s a switch!! Looks like he’s found his niche in life and we all hope that he’s safe, sound and happy. Feel kind of sorry for him, though, as it’s going to be difficult finding regular digs to settle down in. Plus for those of us who have started out in a new little apartment with virtually no furniture, we can all sympathize with him. You never realize how long it can take to get your “little nest” all cozy and warm. (There should be an Ikea Store in every City!!) Once he gets one or two pieces things will soon start to take shape. Later on in life he’ll be telling his children “You should be thankful for what you’ve got“. We’ve all heard that one before!!! Funny thing is, “They” were right!!
