MY DAYS IN RETIREMENT

I’m Packed, Let’s Go!

Had a whopping amount of running around this morning. To the Bank first – Nat needed money for his golf tournament, I needed change for the trip – then to the Pen to see if something was still available for Felicia for her birthday, and thank God it was!! We only had today to get this done in, as her birthday is the day after I get home and apparently what we had already bought  asn’t going to get used – so we had to take it back.  Then over to the grocery store for fixings for a “snack” (as Gail calls it) for the road!! Sounds like she’s got a whack of stuff packed for eating – peanut butter, crackers, cheese, coissants, deli fixins’, etc. Also sounds like we’re eating on the run – and no time to stop for nuttin”!!! Finally over to the drug store to pick up prescriptions, chocolate bar for Nat’s “snack” on Saturday and whatever else we could think of. Home again, home again, jiggity, jig!!!

Lunch time!!! Also got a load of laundry in so Nat and I can at least be dainty fresh!

Laundry done – started packing. Pleased with myself as I had everything set aside and just had to fold and pack! Naturally once I’m all packed and Nat put the suitcase by the door ready for the morning, Gail calls and asks what I’m wearing. Apparently she’s been informed the dnner is formal (meaning no jeans, sandals, etc.) which I kind of assumed and I have (what I think is) a nice outfit all packed and ready to go. So now an ounce of doubt has been firmly planted in the old brain and I have Nat bring up the suitcase so I can add an extra outfit “just in case”. I’ve been caught before and I vowed it won’t happen again!!!

Nat was busy in the afternoon getting his foursome organized for their golf tournament in Caledonia tomorrow. He’s gotten very frustrated as one guy is wavering and he wants to get the ride organized. But from what I just heard it now sounds like things are a go. After all he’s been through (and sometimes wishing he’d never signed up for this game) I’m praying that he has a great game and it was worth the bit of stress.

The day is now winding down and I’m off to watch the news. Now there’s a stress-free event – especially the day before a long trip! Bon Voyage, Adios, Happy Trails, Adieu ….

Born and raised in a small town in Ontario, Canada, with 5 sisters and a brother. Now retired, my husband and I travel, play golf and am slowly renovating our new (old) home. After my kidney transplant in 1999, we've learned to enjoy life to the fullest. Nat and I have driven across Canada, taken an Alaskan cruise and drove home via the Northern United States. We've also been to Mexico, the Caribbean, the East Coast of Canada and Cape Breton. We've done the "Snowbird" thing, having lived in Destin, Florida for a couple of months of the year. In 2007 we changed our travel plans in order to move into and renovate our new "old" home, but hope to someday get back on the road again. We also love returning to Scotland (Nat's origin of birth) to visit his family and tour the Highlands and surrounding Isles.
