Good God, She’s Got Gout

Well, the old girl’s got the gout! My toe and foot have been really, really bad these past few days, so Nat took me to the emergency room this morning. Turns out I’ve got a teeny, weeny broken bone in the toe (from that can of peas, I guess), along with gout. Going to have to do some research on the Mayo Clinic site and see what gives with that.

So now the fun begins as I’m suppose to keep the foot elevated and take even more meds. The drug store is loving me – I’m now a walking pharmacy – all of the anti-rejection drugs for the kidney, and now for the colitis (which flared up again) and gout. You’d never believe it but I really do feel terrific, but that’s probably side effects!!!

It’s going to be frustrating as my foot gets extremely sore the longer I sit at the computer or even do some walking around. Must be all that blood rushing down there. I’m lost when I can’t work at the computer or do some baking or just plain puttering around. I’m getting through a couple of books, but I like to save them for bedtime. Guess I’ll set up a little office around the sofa during the day and get out the old laptop and do the whole network thing. More fiddling around, though. But what the hell, a little fiddling around can be fun!!!

Born and raised in a small town in Ontario, Canada, with 5 sisters and a brother. Now retired, my husband and I travel, play golf and am slowly renovating our new (old) home. After my kidney transplant in 1999, we've learned to enjoy life to the fullest. Nat and I have driven across Canada, taken an Alaskan cruise and drove home via the Northern United States. We've also been to Mexico, the Caribbean, the East Coast of Canada and Cape Breton. We've done the "Snowbird" thing, having lived in Destin, Florida for a couple of months of the year. In 2007 we changed our travel plans in order to move into and renovate our new "old" home, but hope to someday get back on the road again. We also love returning to Scotland (Nat's origin of birth) to visit his family and tour the Highlands and surrounding Isles.
